The Delaware Rifle and Pistol Club is a members-only club dedicated to the betterment of the shooting sports by;
Ø Protecting and promoting the right of individuals to keep and bear arms.
Ø Encouraging organized rifle and pistol shooting by United States citizens and legal residents.
Ø Increasing knowledge of the lawful and safe handling and proper care of firearms.
Ø Promoting the proper use of firearms in marksmanship programs, hunting, and self-defense.
TO JOIN DELAWARE RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB YOU MUST:
· Be 21 years old
· Be legally permitted to own/possess a handgun/firearm (per Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Form 4473)
· Be or become a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA)
· Take our New Member Safety and Orientation course (minimum of two nights) regardless of your prior shooting experience.
· Shoot a twenty round qualification course in which we expect you to exhibit safe gun handling and place 16 out of 20 shots within a 15 inch circle (6 ring on a B8 target).
Potential new members may apply for regular membership by completing a membership application OR may apply to participate in the “Shooting FUNdamentals” nights until they feel they are ready to advance.
New shooters and those wanting to brush up on their skills may want to consider using our “Shooting FUNdamentals” nights to gain the requisite skills necessary to successfully complete the new member qualification.
“Shooting FUNdamentals” Program
“Shooting FUNdamentals” is a program designed to help the new shooter develop the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and operating a firearm safely and competently with a focus on doing so at our club. A $25 fee provides the shooter with the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Book and five sessions with a qualified instructor providing one-on-one coaching on shooting fundamentals.
