RANGE SAFETY RULES
MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BEHAVIOR AND SAFETY OF THEIR GUESTS
1. Both members and guests must sign the attendance book
2. Eye and ear protection is required on the range at all times when shooting is going on.
3. Ventilation fans MUST be used while shooting!
4. Check the range for damage before and after you shoot, and note range damage in the attendance log.
5. Please keep YOUR range clean –clean up target debris and spent brass.
6. Turn off fans and range lights when you are finished shooting.
7. Put “Dud” rounds in the dud-can behind the firing area.
8. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the property.
9. No Eating, Drinking, or Smoking on the Firing Line.
SAFE FIREARM
HANDLING PROCEDURES ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES
A) Maintain muzzle control at all times.
B) Keep the action open and the firearm unloaded until you are ready to shoot.
C) Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Muzzle must be level and pointed down range at your target.
D) No handling or un-casing of firearms when people are downrange.
E) Muzzle pointing “down range” is the only safe direction when on the firing line.
F) Handle firearms only on the firing line (muzzle pointed down range) or in the “safe handling area” in the club room (muzzle pointed at wall). Reminder -No ammunition is allowed in the “safe handling area”.
G) A “benched” firearm (one not in the shooter’s hand) must be unloaded with the action open, magazine out (if applicable); chamber(s) empty and muzzle pointed “downrange”.
H) When the “cease fire” order is given all shooting must stop immediately and firearms must be cleared and “benched”.
I) Moving with an uncased firearm between the firing line and the club room safe handling area is permitted but it must be unloaded with the action open, magazine out (if applicable), chamber(s) empty and carried with the muzzle straight up.
J) Moving about with loaded firearms or closed actions is not permitted.
K) Shooting closer than 21 feet from the backstop (MIDDLE YELLOW LINE) is not permitted.
